The X-Nilo Show: Dinosaurs and the Bible

The X-Nilo Show: Dinosaurs and the Bible is a video produced by Answers in Genesis. While it isn't an in-depth course on creation science, it very effectively teaches some of the basics, namely, the truth about dinosaurs. It teaches how dinosaurs were created along with man on Day 6 of Creation, approximately 6,000 years ago. This is one of those rare treats that makes "studying" a blast. Some of the information was not new to me, but then again, I research creation science all the time.

On the cover, it says that this video is for ages 7-13, but I think it might be best for a little bit younger age group. The X-Nilo Show would appeal to many learning styles as it is presented in an exciting video format, with lots of great information and excellent graphics! Homeschoolers and private as well as public schoolers will all appreciate the independent nature of this movie. A word of caution, however-once you watch this movie, the family will be fighting over who gets to use the Answers in Genesis website first!

On the whole, I enjoyed the X-Nilo Show a great deal. It was very entertaining. There's one scene where a cowboy-type guy runs a boot and 10-gallon hat shop, and he's doing a commercial for dinosaur skin boots. There's also an Indiana Jones spoof, and a scene about the meaning of the word "Dinosaur." At one point, the host says that they need to know a little Greek, and lo and behold, a 6-inch guy wearing a toga walks onscreen. These things make it very funny and enhance the material. I do wish the DVD had some special features, maybe about individual dinosaur species or modern-day dinosaur sightings! Some features with more in-depth information might be very nice. Also a word of caution: there are no subtitles.

If your kids want to know about how to defend the Bible using science, this video is a great starting place. It answers many questions about dinosaurs from a Biblical perspective, using solid scientific evidence, in an entertaining format!
